“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”  – David Richo

Many of you know that I offer astrology as a tool to help understand our career and work lives.  I love using it as I would any other assessment (Myers-Briggs, Strong Interest Inventory, StrengthsFinder) – to identify gifts, talents, challenges and passions.  It’s an intuitive and creative way of informing our paths.  Doctor and author Christiane Northrup explains it beautifully here in her article “Astrology, Doctor? Are you Kidding?”

I’d like to share a particularly transformational point in the sky that has helped clients unlock their gifts and release career related struggle.  It’s called Chiron – its glyph is the key and it is known as the Wounded Healer.  It is where our deepest hurt and greatest contribution resides.

If you have ever been laid off or had a job/manager that was a terrible fit, then you know the unique pain that work can cause.  An unfulfilled search for life’s purpose can also cause distress.  Many career changes are instigated because discomfort can no longer be tolerated and a shift must occur.  Work can sit plainly on our sore spots.

Chiron helps us articulate the source of our pain, illuminates the gift that lies within it and points the way to positive change so that we are on path instead of remaining stuck or repeating history.

One Client’s Experience

One client always felt like the outsider at work – unappreciated and restricted.  They saw so many opportunities to improve things, but their suggestions were not heard.  This person’s Chiron placement suggests that their greatest gift is in the very things they are unable to express – innovation, creativity, contribution to the greater good.  They are supposed to stand out and be different – they just needed to find a place that welcomes and values them!  Once they actively looked for the right cultural fit and expressed their particular style of innovation and creativity in their search communication, they landed the right job that broke the cycle.
