Vocational Assessment for Collaborative Divorce

I’m happy to be a part of the collaborative community as an allied professional. I hope this information is helpful in understanding how vocational work can support the process. You are always welcome to reach out anytime with questions.

What is a vocational assessment?

A Vocational Assessment is a co-created, realistic, individualized plan for work post-divorce.

When is vocational assessment helpful?

  • Clients are unsure about what’s next for work
  • Timelines and potential income are needed to inform spousal support

What is included in the assessment?

The result of the work is a 10+ page report that is sent to the collaborative team. The report includes formal assessments and their results, career specific context and history, impact of the marriage and divorce on work life, skills and talents, barriers and challenges, recommended career paths, income potential, estimated timelines, and a plan of action.

What is the process?

  • Before the work starts, I will speak briefly to the collaborative team to get context.
  • Then  I will have hour-long, confidential, weekly meetings with the client for up to 8 weeks. We will work together and create a draft of the report.
  • Next, the draft if sent to the client and their attorney for discussion and recommended changes.
  • Once there is  final copy, report is presented to the team by the client and their attorney.

How does the process start?

An introduction email is sent by a member of the team to me and the client. The client is also welcome to schedule a free 30-minute consultation to ask questions and learn about the process.

How much does it cost?

The whole process including the report costs $3,000.
